I confess, I've also read this story before. (Is that cheating? I hope not. These are just my favorite kinds of stories, I can't help it.)
So, I'll try to stick to the first half that I read.
From this story I think I really want to try a new narrative style. Story telling styles are my weakness. Third person omniscient is generally the easiest and what I stick with but first or second person would be a new challenge that I think I might like to try. (Hopefully, I don't totally fail at it.)
I also really like that this story has a female lead, which does happen in ancient stories but seems to be a little rare. Psyche is strong in a very...what's a good word for it...innocent type of way? She is gentle, curious, kind and even though she is afraid and uncertain, convinced her life is over or possibly worse, she is brave and even comforts her family who already mourn for her. I like that soft yet seemingly unbreakable strength. I love characters like that.
