Cupid and Psyche (Reading Diary B)

(credit in photo link)

What I really love about the second half of Psyche's story is how she faces and overcomes so many difficult trials. We've all heard the stories of Hercules' and Odysseus' trials but here we have a women facing death and despair and overcoming it! Granted, like the other 'heroes' of old she has some help from many different creatures and spiritual beings. Still, even though Psyche wishes to give up sometimes, she continues to bear an undeserved burden and eventually she gets her happy ending! I like to think that if Hercules' was the hero of strength, and Odysseus of cunning, then Psyche is the hero of kindness and endurance. I would love to be able to write and capture such a character in my story.
