이야기책들 (Favorite Storybooks)

I really liked many of the storybooks but I managed to settle on three in particular that I'll blog about. I chose them for various reasons, which you will see below, but the main reason is that they are all within (or, are close to) my area of study and I enjoy seeing other peoples' perspectives on these topics.

One: Ancient Chinese Fairytales by Kevin Lee

What first caught my attention was this beautiful photo! When I saw it, I had to check the storybook out; the fact that it's content related to my area of study was even better. I loved the way each story was labeled first in Pinyin, thus giving me a chance to tryout the original title for myself, and then again in an English translation so that I could know what it was really saying. The stories opened a door in the world of Chinese culture and I greatly enjoyed reading them.

Once again, Maria is a sucker for beautiful images. However, what actually first caught my attention was the title. I love history, especially history of the ancient variety. Though I only rarely extend my studying into South-East Asia I still very much enjoy learning about the many cultures and peoples there. This storybook has lots of gorgeous images and the background is very nice, too. I really liked the cultural richness of the stories and images.

I definitely chose this one 50% because of the title and 50% because of the photo. When combined you just can't skip past this one, you just have to take a closer look. This storybook is a lot of fun. It's a more modern look as compared to the other two I chose which are more traditional.
