마리아의 안-교과서
I would like to use the following sources suggested to me by Professor Gibbs as a part of my untextbook readings:
Korean Tales by H.N. Allen
One of the tales in this book is one of the stories of Hong Gil Dong (홍길동), who is a very famous Korean folktale character. Gildong is so popular that his story was made into a drama (korean tv show)! I really liked the show and love the stories about him in general, so I'm excited to use them as a part of my studies in this course.
The Unmannerly Tiger and Other Korean Tales by W.E. Griffis

I just really love this illustration. It reminds me very much of the traditional Hanok villages, even though it's a more Western styled illustration.
Korean Folk Tales by Im Bang and Yuk Yi
The version of this book that I found and chose to use doesn't have any illustrations but I am still very excited to read many of the listed stories in it!
I also intend to use these units from the actual untextbook itself:
Unit: Chinese Fairy Tales
Unit: Japanese Fairy Tales (Lang)
Unit: Japanese Fairy Tales (Ozaki)
Unit: Japanese Myths
Though Korea is my country of focus, I am an East Asian major and do study the different historical, political, social, and cultural aspects of both China and Japan; so, I'm looking forward to reading from these units as well!
