The Iliad for Boys and Girls (Reading Diary B / Extra Reading Diary)

I wasn't really thinking when I used this picture for my first reading diary. I suppose I chose it because it was one of the best there was and the details and dramatics really caught my attention. Still though, Achilles did not actually defeat and kill Hector until the second half of the story (really more towards the end). This painting captures many of the things in the story that I took note of. Once again the brave Achilles triumphs, the motivation of the Greek army is uplifted as they see their bravest warrior not only rejoin the fight but also slay the Trojans fiercest warrior. The Trojans can be seen behind the walls of their city where they retreated to.

Important pieces for my story:

Patroclus dies in Achilles stead (Andrew's friend Parker gets hurt trying to take his place)

Angry Achilles returns (Andrew does a thing)

Henry loses to Andrew (five year olds cannot kill one another - so Andrew does...another thing)

my story, much like the Iliad, ends in a horrible cliff hanger!

Homer's Iliad
